Eastern Rice Dumpling at The Clementi Mall represents a cherished third-generation family business that has preserved traditional Chinese culinary heritage for over 40 years. Located in the basement at #B1-K16, this authentic restaurant specializes in handcrafted rice dumplings (bak chang) made without preservatives, maintaining the time-honored recipes and quality standards passed down through generations. The establishment pays homage to the ancient Chinese tradition of rice dumplings, originally created over 2000 years ago to honor the memory of revered poet and minister Qu Yuan (340-278 B. C.).
The menu extends beyond signature Hokkien rice dumplings made from fried white glutinous rice filled with chestnuts, mushrooms, and five-spice marinated pork cubes. Traditional offerings include beloved childhood favorites such as tutu kueh, muahchee, corn kernels served in cups, steamed rice cakes, and fresh popiah. Each item reflects authentic preparation methods and carefully sourced ingredients, ensuring that modern diners experience the same authentic flavors that have delighted customers for decades. The restaurant commitment to preserving traditional recipes without modern shortcuts or preservatives demonstrates their dedication to culinary authenticity.
Operating daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM with cash-only transactions, Eastern Rice Dumpling occupies a strategic corner location in Clementi Mall basement, making it easily accessible to shoppers and diners. As part of a growing chain with locations across Singapore including Balestier Road, Northpoint City, Yew Tee Point, Bedok Mall, Compass One, and Oasis Terraces, the Clementi outlet maintains the brand reputation for consistent quality and authentic taste. The restaurant serves as a cultural bridge, allowing younger generations to experience traditional Chinese delicacies while preserving important culinary traditions for future generations.
Amazing to find kueh Tutu made right before my eyes again. It used to be that way during my child days in the 1950s. And tasted almost exactly, too.
Have been passing by for years, but somehow decided to give stall a try. And was happy with what I bought. Tutu and Sung kuehs. Packing was well done. Auntie wasn't her gouchy self today.

I don't understand why your Vegetarian Nonya dumpling are different price from outlets. I bought 3pcs from Yew Point this morning, selling at $4 each but not enough for my family so I went all the way to Clementi mall but they are selling $4.30 each.

Been a long-standing regular customer for years who buys rice dumplings, ang ku kuehs, soon kuehs, kueh tutus, muah chees, chwee kuehs and chee cheong funs. Always enjoyed my after dinner sweet treats. The packaging of the muah chee has changed from a clear plastic rectangular pack to a round paper box with a clear plastic dome cover. Today, was my second time buying in the new packaging. Pointed out to the staff (silver hair thin old woman) that the box wasn't filled up only to be told it was. Bought muah chee just two days ago also in the new packaging and it was filled to the top. With so many other options for sweet treats available, this is my last purchase from this stall ever. Customers loyalty isn't valued.
Also, while this new cup container is suitable for steamed corn it's not for muah chee which clumps together in one messy lump. Impossible to enjoy with just one wooden stick given.

Hokkien dumpling with salted egg is nice. The meat taste is slightly sweet. Portion quite small tho.

Have came here multiple times to get my favourite chocolate tutu kueh. They used to use chocolate rice but now they use convoluted chocolate chips. Sometimes they give enough chocolate some times they don’t. 3pcs for $2.10, 5 pieces for $3.20! Usually you’ll have to wait roughly 5mins for them to be ready. Suggest you order get other food and then come back to collect it especially if there if someone else before you buy them too.

I've been trying out dumplings every where as a Hakka. The Hokkien style dumplings is the best I've eaten. It's generous with pork, mushroom and chestnut. The sauce is nice. The glutinous rice doesn't separate easily as compared to better dumplings.
