I recently tried Gong Yuan Ma La Tang at Clementi Mall and found the overall experience quite decent. The ingredients were fresh with a good variety to choose from. However, I found the soup a bit too salty for my taste. The service was quick and efficient. It’s a self-service style where you pick your ingredients and pay by weight.

Words can't describe how bad the food was. The soup was weird and thick, noodles were stuck together and the beef was more like chewing gum. Sesame sauce had the consistency and taste of plain water, and they ran out of spring onions. Another thing was their utensils. The containers were wet and most of the chopsticks still had food caked to it. The spoons amd small bowls were in a similar state. I highly discourage anyone from eating at this and any other outlets they have. Spend your money at some other malatang shop.

The cashier showed double standards by disallowing my 3 year old child to eat outside food as he obviously is unable to eat mala food. But he turned a blind eye to an adult couple drinking burger king soft drinks on just the next table on 7 dec 6:30pm.

The receipt was printed this way with a pickup number, but when the food was ready, the wrong number was called.

most expensive & awful mala i ever had. ingredient is not fresh, and such little food cost $21. think twice before buying from there.

No one help to arrange the queue for seating, totally disorder.
The mala I order, there is no visible peanut sauce! Only chilly sauce and the chef refused to add more peanut sauce.
Really no taste and expensive price.
Will not come again.

The guy cook too too slow. It took 25mins for my order to be done. I rather the young lady cook but too bad she was busy washing bowls

Tried the mala soup, but found that it didn’t quite capture the authentic mala flavor. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel worth the price. Seating is also quite limited, so do take note if you’re planning to dine in

my friends and i came to have lunch (we ate here at this branch before, on a weekly basis) but on this particular week we took lesser ingredients but paid almost double the price of what we normally get. $28/$27 for 800g and $25 for 700g. not just that, the server at the cashier was rude and did not want to answer our questions at all. super dismissive attitude and not helpful at all. we have proof of how much we had spent in the last few weeks, all below $20. someone needs to get that cashier lady checked.

Good soup broth fixed, I tried pickled veg soup and it was quite tasty. They also have a free flow kimchi station which is a plus! Can give it a try if you need an affordable place for soup cravings.

After see bad reviews still give a change to try their tomato soup base. Food still consider ok and price also on reasonable side.

Despite the harsh reviews, I personally felt the joint was not bad just crampy because of limited space. Food wise I think it’s passable and really not bad but on a pricier side

Food is very satisfying, though not as fresh as Funan's which is the other branch i go to often. Can we also get an indication of which soup base has beef, pork or is vegetarian?

Price is around $15 per pax for a filling dinner! Dined in at this Clementi Mall outlet on a weekday dinner at 6pm, staff were swift in taking orders. I had tried the mala soup and added a “beaten egg” which made the soup super creamy. There’s a condiment bar with free flow kimchi, spring onion, coriander and sesame paste. Would be good if they could add on peanuts as a condiment as well. The food counter (meat and vegetable) area was kept clean with no foul smell that mala places sometimes have, and condiment counter was rather clean. You have to self service from taking your own food to returning your plates etc, but there’s no service charge so definitely reasonable! One point is that I wish the tables were better cleaned though. Because everyone returns their own dishes, the tables aren’t cleaned by staff as frequently. Would recommend getting the potato noodles as that paired really well with the broth. I’d skip on the instant noodles selection the next time. Meat and vegetables were all fresh!
